Solutions for dry, damaged hair?

I have very thick and somewhat coarse, medium length hair. I do not wash my hair every day, more like every couple of days. I blow it dry. I also use a flat iron on it almost every day. I use Tressemme Heat tamer on my hair before I blow it dry and before I use the flat iron, but my hair is still dry, brittle, and has split ends.

Are there any good products out there that would help with my problem? I just want sleek, shiny, soft, healthy hair. Do I need a hair mask, different heat styling product, deep conditioner, etc? Are some brands better than others?

start by going to your nearest Hair Cuttery and getting a deep conditioning treatment, they have a line called Chemistry. they can tailor the treatment to whatever problem you are having with your hair.

have them recommend the best products for your hair,

sounds like you need a better heat protectant to work with your flat iron. Matrix Sleek Iron Smoother works really well.

Most likely you are not using the best shampoo and conditioner to help with the dryness and brittleness.

Redken's All Soft line helps with that.

by using professional products rather than generic you are getting better results, because the products are more concentrated than generic. you use way less of the product also.

hope i've helped and happy holidays.

I use Garnier Fructis, it's helped my damaged hair, but you need both the shampoo and conditioner, and it could take a little while but it works.

my hair is just like yours if left untamed. I use garnier fructis sleek and shine shampoo and conditioner. I also use this really great hair styling creme by identity. it is an almond and honey creme, or something like that.

You really want to avoid so much heat to your hair. It will continue to break without a break from heat. The only way to get your hair back into healthy shape is getting it cut monthly and let it air dry. You may want to try using hair serum for your dry hair.

First of all, you're washing all the luster out of your hair. Stop washing it so much. You can wash it twice a week and use light conditioner, because the more you use conditioners it makes coarse hair puffy. My daughter has the same kind of hair. Don't use heat every day on your hair. Try using a light hair dressing oil on the scalp to keep it moist. Do not use hair moisturizers it dries the hair.

i use pantene ( i think that is how it is spelled) and that seems to be the only thing to keep my hair soft and smooth. try the one for dry and damaged hair. i also found that once i stoped blow drying my hair and using the flat iron on it that helped as well.

First get a trim for sure, then spend a little extra time in the shampoo isle and read all the moisturizing conditioners and pick the one you think sounds the best, I want to try sunsilk and that Garnier Fructis, in the green bottle
