I have natural medium brown hair, I have colored my hair and now it has a light auburn cast to it as well as hightlights, I want to go to a shade that fits a cool skin tone with highlights and lowlights but I am not sure what shade of brown will keep me from getting the red brassyness. With all of the cloring that has been done, will a hair professional be able to get a true brown without the red? What shade of brown would be good? I heard it should only be 2 or 3 shades lighter that your natural color

go with a cooler toned color.. it helps get the redness out of it

ok i really suggest for your hair that you do use some red, because if you dont [its happened to one of my friends] she got her hair done without red, and it turned out looking almost blue-ish. it looked REALLY bad. so keep minimal red if that what you want
