Another hair question :)?

So, I have naturally medium brown hair, and I have this Clairol Herbal Essences hair lightening kit. I kinda want a change, and the kit says that it will make medium brown hair blonde. The shade is bleach blonde, but I have a feeling it might not work because my hair is fairly dark. Has anyone tried an at home dying kit and lightened their hair? And if it looks horrible how bad would it be for my hair to dye it back to brown with a semi-permanent dye? Thanks for the help :)

Another hair question :)?

if it has bleach/ammonia in the ingredients it could significantly lighten it depending on how long you leave it on. if it is just a straight hair color w/out bleach you will get a much more subtle effect. I have tried lightening my dark brown hair at home and it turned orange. i recommend you save up and have a professional lighten it.

Ummm....I know that manic panic has a good bleaching kit...but if you leave that stuff on a few minutes extra...seriously only a few...then it might work pretty good.

Another hair question :)?

Hi,

I tried literally the same thing (stupidly) after I was mad the salon dyed my hair too dark and I decided if a salon screws up I'll try to fix it myself.. bad move. I turned my hair orange, and I could not dye it over with a semi-permanent dye. I had to go back to another salon to fix the color, it cost almost $200... and of course by then, the texture of my hair was completely fried and i had to grow it out anyway. This was last February and my hair is still way shorter than i would like. Please don't do this, your hair is way too dark, and your natural color looks way nicer, trust me.

i would recommend that you get it done professionally. at home dying kits usually don't turn out the way you want them to.
