I had light to medium brown hair and I decided to try and die it ash blonde by myself last night. Now I have a reddish dark blonde color that doesn't look that good and I am going to see all my family tomorrow at Thanksgiving. I haven't seen them in two years and I wanted to look good. I think it would look a lot better if I added blonde highlights or tried to dye it blonde again, but can I do that tonight? I don't care if it dries my hair out because I have really oily hair anyway. I am just wondering since there might still be some of the first dye left on my hair will adding another color do something like turn my hair green or pink or some totally weird color? What if I use the highlighting version that is same brand and the same color as the dye I used last night? What if I use the exact same thing as what I used last night? What would be best? Thanks!

You are going to run the risk of ruining your hair but on that note....
I tried to die my hair dark red once and it turned bright pink. I immediately went back to the store and got brown dye and did that over it and my hair survived. However that was dying it darker and not lightening it.
If you aren't too worried about damaging your hair I say give it a shot, it can't be that bad.

I have had the same problem, but i have alot of golden undertones in my hair, and i got a light golden brown do dye my hair, and it turned orange.seriously. so i got the darkest ash brown i could find and dyed it. my hair felt kinda gross for a few days, but it didnt fry it or destroy it. Try using a natural shade or the opposite of what you used. I used a warm shade, so i fixed it with a cool shade.

just get a highlighting kit with a cap, and put some highlights in it! if your hair is long and wavy or curly you're not going to be able to use the cap very well so you are going to hand pick and choose the pieces to dye. use thin strands all over and use foil to keep the dye where you want it.

Ok get another blonde and also a darker colour, maybe a light brown (get a conditioning one like garnier) . So if the blonde doesnt even things out then stick the brown on after. Its a temporary fix and you'll probs end up with different tones in your hair,bit like highlights.

It's ok yes, but I would go to a salon for sure. That way you can sit there until they get it fixed. Your hair now is totally opened and damaged and won't react the way it is supposed to when you colour it again. You dye clothes and colour hair btw. As for x-treme reactions, yes some blones use a blue, green base or ash tinting effect to cut reddish tones. You could easily get a bad reaction and have green toned hair.
The problem with drug store products is that they don't have enough strength to get above the red/orange stage. You can only add so much % or peroxide, some 30% volume, in drug store products, when you really need a 40 volume to get over the red phase. So they add a bunch of ammonia in cases to boost the effect.
You could also go to a wholesaler if there's one in your city. The place where the salons go to buy their supplies. You won't get the 'dirt cheap' discount that hairdressers get, but you can usually get the proper colour for about 10 bucks, similar to a drug store cost.
Most of the staff are extremely helpful at wholesalers and can sell you the correct tube of colour to cut out the red.

No don't try and re dye it so soon....especially since you used an ash blonde shade...your hair will turn a greenish colour. Best to just leave it as it is and laugh it off if your family makes any comments about the new colour. When salons are open again after the holidays go to a professional to correct the colour.

O.K so heres the thing you want to go with the highlighting version of the same brand in either an ash (that will tone down the reddness) or a highlighting version in a neutral and this will neutralize some of the reddness. Both will lighten it up. Do understand you will never get the same colour as on the box as everyone hair reacts differently to product.

i have medium blonde hair, and i wanted brown hair. Well i decided to have my mom dye it for me...i had highlighs a few months befor and after i dyed it, my hair was purple...so my advice is to go to a hair salon. They fixed mine, really fast too.it isn't purple any more.
