How to scrunch hair?

I have thick, straight, medium-length hair. I want to make my hair wavy by scrunching it. I've tried doing this when my hair is wet/damp and scrunching it with mousse and gel and adding hairspray. It doesn't seem to work very well though, my hair doesn't end up very wavy at all. What can I do to make my hair more wavy and less frizzy? Are there any good products you'd recommend?

How to scrunch hair?

I have straight hair. I use a product called 'Curls Up'. It is a mega hold styling gel. The hold factor on it is 6, on a scale of 1 to 6 with 6 being the highest. It smooths frizziness and split ends. I use it daily because I like the curl effect. I put some on my hands and work it in from the bottom of my hair to the top. Then I scrunch it. My hair can be either wet or dry when I use it. It is a great product. I don't have to use mousse or hair spray either. In my case, it holds all day long. Hope it works for you.

If your hair is thick, you might want to layer it - it will lighten up your hair and make it easier to scrunch it up.

The two best products i've tried are

Sexed-up, brand = Catwalk.

Surf hair, brand = PPS.

Hope that helps!

well, i have naturally wavy/curly hair and i use garnier fructis style hard curl gel and aussie moist leave-in creme. i don't have straight hair so i wouldn't know what to do. But you can't use just gel, if you want some luck with curling it you have to use curling gel. I can't straighten my hair, so its very hard for someone with straight hair to curl it.

ad a blow dryer on low to that scrunch technique.

i would recommend Paul Mitchell's extra strong mouse,

try braiding it in sections and allowing it to dry, that will produce a wave. then you can touch up the ends with a curling iron and hairspray it . if you have straight hair and very little natural wave, you may want to consider a body wave perm, but it to has draw backs like leaving your hair dry and brittle. so then you need more moisture in the shampoos and conditioners.

just have fun with it.
